  Prologue

I was lying in bed on my side pressed against her. The way the moonlight shown slivers of her body in the dark, showed how immaculate she truly was. She was finally trying to go to sleep and I felt so much better about what I had done to her. The whimpers had finally subsided and the insatiable screams of pain were finally leaving my head.

I had handpicked her over a year ago and I finally had the nerve to do everything I wanted without holding back. Something about this one shook me to the core which was an experience I never had before. If I trained her correctly she could be my match in every twisted desire that I wanted to explore.

Would she ever trust me? I paid a great deal for women in the past, but I never paid for the trust. I believed that was something that you either would earn or not. Once I would see that trust wasn’t building, I would release them of their “contracts” and pay them a sum of money to never speak of it again.

But this one ... this one was the one I wanted the most.

I leaned my face down to her long brown hair, running my lips gently over it. Through the smell of sex and sweat, the faint intoxicating fragrance of her filled my nose and I closed my eyes. I wanted her again and I wanted her now.

Running the back of my hand gently down the side of her body and over the curve of her hip always made her body shiver. I still couldn’t tell if that was in anticipation or fear, but either way I enjoyed her natural reaction to my touch. It had been the exact same since I had found her.

I slid my hand around her waist and pulled her back against me. Her skin was the smoothest I had ever felt and I intended to do my best to keep it that way. I could get carried away at times and I would ...

It didn’t matter. I wouldn’t do it to her unless she allowed me to and then I would be sure to properly care for her. If we ever did get to that point I knew then that she trusted me and I would allow her to perform the act on me as well.

Her sudden sniffle caused me to open my eyes. It was obvious that she didn’t trust me. Obvious because of her tears and because I still had to bind her to keep her from running away. My hand traveled from her belly to the rope I had secured around her wrists; she shifted her body a little and the rope around her ankles tickled my leg.

“Don’t cry,” I said softly to her. “It won’t always be like this.”

A deep, steady breath was her response. She was trying to stop the tears and it wasn’t because she wanted to, it was because I asked her to stop.

“We’ve got six more hours before the sun comes up and I have to put you away. Do you want more?” I whispered into her ear.

If she said yes, I would spend the next six hours pleasuring her in every way that I could. I would make her orgasm harder than she ever had before and I would unbind her ankles as an act of kindness.

If she said no, then I would put her away six hours ahead of schedule and not concern myself with her for a week.

She shrugged and I smiled. It was obvious that she was weighing her options which was a far cry from when we were first together. She fought me viciously; each time she struck my face it only made me harder and want her more. She relented after I wound up tying her to the bed, by choice I would like to think, not because of the restraints.

With as terrible as that may seem, I never forced myself onto her. I never even took my clothes off until she stopped fighting me. Even though she was mine and I could use her anyway that I wanted, I still respected her.

“Riley? You have to make a decision,” I prompted gently.

Just saying her name was enough to get my blood flowing to all the right places. I could feel myself desire starting to swell and pressed it gently against her.

  “No,” she whispered quietly.

I scoffed and got off of the bed. I walked around to her side and stood there for a moment, looking down at her. My body blocked most of the moonlight, but I could see her wide open blue eyes were pooling with tears. I leaned down and kissed her gently on her forehead even though I was a bit angry at her rejection.

It was to be expected though; we hadn’t gotten to that part of the requirements yet. I reached down and scooped her off of the bed and held her closely to my chest while I walked out of the room and down to the first floor of my sprawling estate. I made my way through the living room, the master dining room, the elaborate kitchen, and toward the basement door. I opened the door and adjusted her in my arms slightly so that I would be able to see the concrete steps as I walked down them. Once I reached the landing I went to the wall with the false panel and pushed it aside. She whimpered slightly as I turned on the dim light in the narrow corridor and made my way to the double enforced steel door.

“Don’t look,” I instructed her. In her newly acquired obedience, she turned her head and buried her face into my chest while I pushed the code into the door before pulling it open.

I stepped back and let the door swing slowly open before walking in and feeling the left side of the wall for the light switch. I glanced around the room and smiled; she hadn’t destroyed anything since the last time I put her in here. Good girl. The first few times she left the room in shambles and I had to discipline her accordingly.

I carried her over to the bed I had placed in the room and laid her down. She tu
rned to face me and held out her hands so I could undo her bindings. I wrapped the rope around my arm as I ran a hand down her pale leg slowly before I undid the restraints around her ankles.

“I’ll see you in one week,” I said quietly before walking out of the door.

The last thing I heard as I stepped out of the door to punch in the lock code was her burst into hysterical tears as the door slid shut.

  One

  (Riley)

  One year ago

I was standing behind the customer service desk at work trying to get through all of the online book reservations. It was Tuesday morning and since that was usually new release day, the reservations had exploded over night.

I grabbed the stack of papers off of the printer and ran off to find the corresponding books. Ninety nine percent of them were for the new Stephen King book, while the one lone one was for a self-improvement book. After I gathered all the books, I went back to the customer service desk and began to wrap the corresponding papers to their books while checking YES on the reservations in the computer so that the customers would know their books were available for pick up.

I glanced at the time on the computer and sighed. It was only ten thirty in the morning and I already felt like I had worked a full day. I grabbed a basket from the side of the counter and piled the books into it before I walked quickly to the front of the store. I ducked behind the register and put the books in alphabetical order on the shelf before I grabbed the small stack of returns and ran back to the desk. I could already tell that today was going to be a long day.

I pushed my brown hair back behind my ears and grabbed the print out schedule and scanned it to see when my break was. Two more hours. I can do this.

Now again, because it was release day, those two hours flew by rather quickly. I punched out the clock for lunch when my cover person had arrived and went into the back room to retrieve my purse.

I decided that today I would eat in the small café inside of the store. As an employee it would be half off and I was struggling a little bit for money until I got paid again on Friday. So I ordered a plain bagel, cream cheese, a cherry coke, and sat down at one of the corner tables.

I was one of about five people in the café. Usually this was the busiest part of the store but the rush for the new book had lead most of the consumers elsewhere. Either way, it was job security so I didn’t care where they went as long as they bought something.

I got up and went to the magazine stand to browse for something to read while I ate. I looked through the gossip magazines before I went over to the travel section. I crouched down and grabbed Afar, Travel + Leisure, and National Geographic Travel.

I mean I knew I couldn’t go to any of the places in these magazines, but sometimes I would like to look at the pictures and read the articles as if though I were there too. When I stood up and turned, I bumped directly into a customer and my magazines and some books hit the ground.

“Oh my God, I’m so sorry,” I said as I fell to my knees to retrieve the scattered books.

A friendly laugh met my ears as the customer dropped to their knees to retrieve my magazines.

“It’s alright. You didn’t hurt me if that’s what you think,” the accented voice said teasingly.

A pair of strong hands held out my magazines and I glanced up. Wow. That was the only thing that I could think because ... wow. He had a big bright smile on his face, gorgeous light brown eyes, and straight, blonde hair that fell just below his ears.

“See? No harm done,” he said getting to his feet after taking the books from me.

I nodded and stood up. I suddenly felt so tiny standing in front of him. He was tall and well built, but not unreasonably big; he didn’t look like he was in pain like a lot of those guys tend to do. He ran his hand back through his hair, his smile deepening, and dimples started to slowly appear on his cheeks.

“Well, thanks Ms. Riley,” he said peering at my name badge.

“You’re welcome,” I mumbled before I walked quickly back to my table and set the magazines down. I checked the time on my phone and realized I wasted fifteen minutes trying to find magazines and then assaulting a customer with them.

I sat down and quickly spread the cream cheese on my bagel and opened one of the magazines. As I was eating and flipping pages, I felt someone suddenly standing near me. I looked up slowly and saw my victim standing there.

“Mind if I sit down? It’s a bit crowded in here,” he said gesturing around.

I didn’t realize the sudden explosion of customers in the café area, so I nodded and motioned toward the empty chair across from me with my half eaten bagel.

I went back to magazine as he set his backpack down and opened his bag of food. We sat there in absolute silence as I flipped through the magazine and he read his book. I glanced at the time on my phone. I had five more minutes before I had to punch back in.

I sighed and got to my feet, collecting the magazines when he finally spoke.

  “Leaving already?” he asked.

“My lunch is almost over, I kind of have too,” I explained with a small smile.

He nodded, as he shoved half of his food back into the bag and got to his feet. He leaned down for his backpack and slung it over his shoulder.

“I’ll throw that stuff away for you,” he offered grabbing my plate and empty plastic cup.

  “Thanks,” I said gratefully.

I ran off and put the magazines away before I made my way quickly back to the break room to drop my purse off. I went back to the customer service desk and punched in. I took a deep breath before I turned around to help the waiting customer when I laughed.

“How can I help you?” I asked my victim.

“If you had to recommend one book, any book in the store, what would it be?” he asked with a sexy grin.

I crossed my arms over my chest and stared at him for a moment. I couldn’t tell where he was from so that was a bargaining chip.

“Tell me where one comes from with such an accent and I’ll see what I can do,” I replied a little flirtatiously.

“New South Wales,” he replied with a laugh. “I’m Jaxton,” he said extending his hand.

I shook it quickly before I turned my attention to the computer to look up the bestselling books in the store.

“No, don’t be conventional,” he said after he leaned over to see what I was doing. “What would you read?”

I moved my hands away from the keyboard and motioned for him to follow me. We walked past the romance section, the fiction section, and the teen section, arriving in Sci-Fi.

“Take your pick,” I said, making a sweeping gesture with my arm.

He looked at the shelves before he turned his attention back to me, “You know what I think, Ms. Riley? I think you’re lying to me right now. I think you brought me to the Sci-Fi section because you think that I look like a Sci-Fi kind of person.”

The way his eyes became so serious and his voice became very quiet was unnerving. I don’t know why, but it was and I didn’t know what to do or say in that moment because he was right.

“Now, tell me the truth. What would you read?” he asked stepping a little closer to me.

  “Riley are you okay?”

I glanced to my left and saw one of the managers standing there looking at us rather curiously. I nodded and she gave Jaxton a stern look before walking away and leaving us there.

“Riley dial 247 at your convenience please,” came the announcement over the PA system.

I reached for the phone that was in my side pocket and dialed my manager.

“Hey,” I said when she answered.

“If you need to get away from him you can come to my office. I’ve been watching you guys on the camera and something doesn’t seem right about him,” she said.

“Okay. Sure, I’ll be right there,” I replied. “Sorry, I’ve got to run. My manager needs me,” I said to Jaxton apologetically.

I watched a small smile start to crease his b
eautifully full lips. He knows I’m lying again.

“I’ll see you around then,” he said with a nod as he walked toward the registers to pay for his books.

  Two

I was sitting at home in the dark, with only the television illuminating the living room. I was eating a tuna fish and mayonnaise sandwich while watching reruns of The Twilight Zone. My favorite episode was on; Nick of Time. Luckily I had all of the episodes on DVD so I could watch them whenever I wanted.

That was my simple night time routine. To sit in my one bedroom apartment, eat a sandwich of sorts and watch The Twilight Zone.

I glanced at the clock next to the couch and sighed. It was nine fifteen p.m. and I wasn’t tired yet. Not that I had to go to work the next day, it was my day off, I just knew that tonight would be one of those nights where I would struggle to go to sleep and I’d be tired all day tomorrow because of it.

I finished my sandwich and cleaned up the coffee table of crumbs and cup ring marks before I turned off of the TV and went into my bedroom. I climbed into my bed, rolled onto my side and pulled the sheet up over my waist, and closed my eyes.

I opened my eyes again when my cell phone started to ring loudly. Guess I forgot to shut that off, I thought with a loud sigh. I closed my eyes when it stopped and angrily threw my sheet off when it happened again.

I stomped into the living room and leaned over the couch to retrieve it.

“Hello?” I barked into the phone.

  “Sleeping were you?”

It was Jaxton. Not caring how he got my phone number at that particular moment, I went back into my bedroom and lay down on my bed. His accent was absolutely delicious and I didn’t mind talking to him for a little while.

“Trying, but then my phone rang,” I replied with a loud yawn.

“Should I let you go?” he asked.

I honestly thought about saying yes, but the way he made me feel earlier that day was enough to make me say no.

“Good, so I never did get to pick another book. Do you work tomorrow, Ms. Riley?” he asked.
