I reach down and pick it up in both of my hands and hold it up. Even in death, he’s still so fucking beautiful.

I gasp when I hear shouting behind me and start to shake when I recognize Papa’s angry voice lumbering toward where I’m standing.

As quickly as I can I begin to walk deeper into the woods, keeping my head low, and staying off the beaten path until I’m able to loop my way back to the pool area. Once I make it undetected, I decide to go into the small shed and wait until it’s safe again.

I close the door firmly behind me, place Pedro’s head on the ground, and lean my body back against the entrance, my eyes flitting toward the ceiling.

Even though the sun is shining outside, it’s a little hard to see in here, but it’s the only place I know I’ll be able to make to in time.

I blow out my breath as my eyes wander down toward the floor. I don’t know why I’ve become so enamored with what’s left of Pedro, but I can feel it calling to me.

I cross my arms over my chest and turn my face away … before I look down again.

Does being shot really hurt this much? I muse to myself as I crouch down and trace his lips. I startle slightly when I realize they’re still warm. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but that wasn’t it.

Licking my lips nervously, I sit on the dirty floor and pick up his head again. I hold it up to eye level and wait. For what, I’m not entirely sure. At least not until I close my eyes and press my lips against his.

I force his mouth open with my tongue, lashing at his playfully, ignoring that he can no longer return the favor.

While we never had sex, there were things that we liked to do each other, and the thought is starting to consume me that this is the last time we’ll ever have the chance.

My breathing becomes erratic as I place his head down long enough to shimmy out of my pants, then panties. Desire is starting to take over me and I tell myself that it’s okay because it’s Pedro.

I lick the tips of my fingers then reach down and begin to finger my clit. I know that if I can just get wet enough for him, then it won’t be so hard to …

I lean my head back against the door, my body beginning to tremble as my fingers start to become slick. When I’m certain it’s more than enough, I place his head between my legs, wedge my two juicy fingers into his lips and force his mouth open again.

Taking a deep breath, I use my sharp nails to gently pull his tongue out as far as it can go, then move his head against my pussy.

I gasp instantly, my body becoming stiff as I begin to rub him against myself.

A gasp escapes me as he brings every fucking nerve I have to life like he has so many times before, and when I can’t take it anymore, I push him away.

Gently positioning him in a way so I can finish, I straddle his head, lower my cunt against his mouth and begin to roll my hips.

It feels better than it did when he was alive because now, he can’t tell me that he’s had enough. And as I clench my teeth together, the closer I get, the more I realize that this secret will be ours to keep and no one will ever know.

  Chapter Thirteen

I’ve been leaning against my car for the past hour and a half. I waited two days before calling Enzo again, and it took more than the time I’ve been fucking expecting him to show up to agree to this.

He bitched about the long drive from Durango, but I warned him that if he didn’t show, I’d turn myself into my father, and with the act, I’d expose him for the piece of shit he really is.

He finally agreed and we settled on a cantina in Lo de Reyes.

“Behold, La Princesa de Cancio Cartel,” he greets me as he pulls his car into the parking lot. He’s leaning out of his window when he makes his declaration and I have half a mind to punch him in his throat over it.

“Y el Sicario pendejo de Miguel Vargas,” I all but scream back at him.

He rakes a hand back through his hair and chuckles as he motions for me to get out of the way then goes to find a parking spot.

I decide to go into the cantina without waiting for him. The last thing I need is anyone thinking I’m with this cabrón.

A handsome young man greets me at the front door, and I request a table for two in the furthest corner from the entrance he has. After giving me a slightly odd look, he agrees and leads me toward the back of the place.

As soon as I sit down, I glance toward the entrance and wave at Enzo when he waltzes in.

He walks right by the boy like he’s not even there and I can’t help but shake my head.

“You can’t be nice to anyone?” I ask him in disdain as he sits down across from me.

“I’m nice to you,” he remarks with a grin.

  “Hardly. Anyway—”

I stop talking instantly when the same boy comes over to hand us menus, then mumbles that our server will be over soon.

“I’ll tip him well,” Enzo says as he reaches for one of the menus and begins to look at the selection.

I smile at him when he steals a glance at me. He’s attempting to gain my approval, and for this small act of kindness, I’ll allow him to have it.

  “Hola!”

We both look up at the young girl who’s showed up with glasses of water and plastic straws. She introduces herself to us, takes our drink orders, and then disappears.

“Maybe we should wait until we have our food before talking business,” he suggests with a chuckle.

So we sit in silence for the next forty five minutes. Me, exchanging text messages with my sister, and him watching the game on the small television hoisted onto the wall behind me.

“I think it’s safe now,” I say once the server is out of earshot.

“Huh?” he asks absentmindedly, his eyes still on the television.

“We’ve been served,” I say with a laugh. Enzo glances down at the plate in front of him and shrugs as he reaches for his beer and takes a swig. As soon as he sets it down, he swipes one of the tortilla chips off my plate and pops it into his mouth.

“What’s the name of this place, again? These are phenomenal!”

When he tries to swipe another one, I give his hand a gentle smack and reach for one of the smaller plates, load it up with chips, then pour some of my queso over it, pushing it toward him.

“Stop touching my food,” I tell him, making a face. “God knows where those hands have been.”

  “Or where they can be.”

I smooth the cloth napkin out on my lap, then look up at him. He’s grinning at me like a goddamn wolf and it’s all I can do to not toss my glass of water in his face.

“Right, anyway,” I say as I reach for one of my quesadillas, “Any news on Miguel?”

Enzo scoffs as he reaches for his beer again, but I’m faster, and snatch it away before he has the chance.

“Is that why you dragged me all the way out here, Tati? To ask about him?”

The anger in his tone is steady. He’s doing his best to maintain his temper, which I have yet to witness. Though, I have heard stories that when he reaches breaking point, bad things happen to whoever he’s with.

  Regardless of their standing.

I nod before I take a bite of my food, then place it on the plate. I hold a fist to my mouth while I chew, then reach for my water. After taking a sip, I set it down and inch his bottle back toward him.

It’s not my life I’m concerned for. The young people who work here shouldn’t have to suffer anything because he’s dangerously close to having a temper tantrum.

  “What does your father say?”

“About Miguel?” I ask thoughtfully. Enzo nods and I shrug. “He doesn’t. That’s what’s so fucking weird about this. It’s like he just vanished into thin air.”

  “And that bothers you?”

“Mm, no,” I reply, shaking my head briefly, “I just know that if this mystery isn’t solved soon enough, Papa will send his sicarios out to look for him, and honestly, I don’t want my sister getting hurt.”

  He eyes me
for a moment, leaning back against his seat. I have no idea what he’s thinking, nor do I really think I care, however, I invited him out here, so I know I’ll have to sit through this until we’re both ready to go.

“How is Sofi? I haven’t seen her since Altata.”

My face screws up in confusion, “Why would you?”

I see the corners of his lips twitching before he clears his throat and runs his tongue over his teeth.

“I can’t ask about La Carnicera?”

“No, you can’t,” I snap at him.

“If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you’re jealous,” he remarks with a smirk.

“Of what? Ana Sofia doesn’t even like cock,” I bark at him. When his eyes go wide, I instantly regret letting that slip. It’s something I’ve been able to hide for her and now this goddamn gossipy bitch knows of her preferences.

  “Huh.”

Enzo doesn’t say anything else for the rest of our time in the cantina. No matter how hard I try to engage him in conversation, he maintains his thoughtful, stony silence. I’m so desperate to get him to keep my sister’s secret that I’d be willing to do damn near anything to make it happen.

I look down at my hands; one is sitting on the table, the other is wrapped around the handle of the dull blade provided by the cantina.

I raise my eyes and look toward him.

I don’t know how else to keep my sister safe other than killing him, but I have never killed before, and if I fuck this up, it will mean the end of everything I know.

But as the thought lingers in my head, as I contemplate ending his life to save mine, I notice his lips. Full, beautiful, and sleek, coated with the slight bubbles from the beer he’s been drinking.

I look down at my lap again, then toward his neck, then the knife.

I can give him what he wants and in the same breath keep Ana Sofia’s secret.

She would do the same thing for me.

  Epilogue

Enzo grunts against my neck, his breath as hot as his desire as he plunges his fingers into me. I gasp slightly at how rough he’s being, but I promised him something in return for keeping my sister’s secret.

And while I allowed him to keep his life, there’s part of the bargain he doesn’t know about. Nothing about his lips made me want to take his head and secret to my room; if anything, they made me want to stab him until there was nothing left.

I’ve never held the same hunger toward this dog like he has for me, but I’d do anything for my sister.

“Slow down, Enzo,” I growl as I put a hand on his chest and attempt to push him back.

We’re in his fancy car with the black, tinted windows, still in the parking lot of the cantina.

I promised him a quick fuck, and while I would have rather walked blindly into traffic, we Cancio women do what we must to protect our family.

Enzo grunts again as he pulls his fingers out of my cunt and shoves them into my mouth. He jerks my jaw down and leans closer still.

“You don’t call the shots right now, Tatiana. Unless you want this to end badly, you should shut your fucking mouth,” he hisses into my ear.

I swallow hard and look Enzo right in his eyes. I’m trying to steel my resolve to withstand what’s being done to me.

If I can find a way to distract from one pain by inflicting it elsewhere, maybe I’ll be able to survive this emotionally.

My body will find a way to recover, but will my heart?

I nod quickly and he smirks as his fingers slide out of my mouth and he begins to undo his belt.

“Get in the back,” he orders me gruffly as he pulls it free.

I push my hair behind my ears as I follow the command given to me. He slaps my ass as I maneuver by him and I grit my teeth.

As soon as I’m as comfortable as I can be, I shimmy my panties off and toss them into the front seat. Enzo reaches for them, holds them to his nose, and inhales deeply before he opens the glove compartment and shoves them inside.

“For safekeeping,” he tells me with a smirk, his breath still bated.

  Blackmail is more like it.

Clearing his throat he checks the rear and sideview mirrors before he pushes his door open, then makes his way round to the back and climbs in with me.

“How do you like to fuck, Tati?” he asks as he starts to pull his pants down. “On your stomach? On your back?”

  “I don’t know,” I tell him quietly.

“Mentirosa,” he playfully accuses with a laugh.

“Let’s just get this over with,” I snap at him as I lower myself onto my back.

Enzo’s smile instantly disappears as he moves to hover over me and looks me in the eyes. I can see the sinister symphony beginning to dance in them, and when he roughly shoves my legs apart, I pray for the strength that I know I’m going to need.

“On your back. Just like the whore I always knew you were. But so you know? I never wanted you, Tati. I’m taking you because you’re in front of me,” he whispers dangerously, his lips inches from mine. “And when I’m done with you, I’ll have Ana Sofia eventually.”

My eyes narrow in anger and shock as he clamps a hand over my mouth and roughly shoves his cock into me.

Tick, tock, little sister, I think as bitter tears begin to roll down my face.
